Many people in general are not conscious of defecating regularly while they are conscious and worried about the intake of food. Several nutritious foods are talked about by many people. It is very important for everyone to send away the toxic wastes from the body to keep the internal environment clean and healthy. It is important to keep the internal environment clean as much as the external body is cleaned by taking bath. The waste from the food that we take in everyday must be sent out completely and cleaned from the colon. Constipation results in bowel movement that is not frequent, not evacuating the bowels completely and reduction in the volume of the bowels. Home remedies for constipation

  • Bael fruit: Except jack fruit or banana all other fruits are found to be useful for the constipation management. Some fruits are more beneficial and effective for treating constipation. Bael fruit is one and important of all laxatives. This fruit is known to clean the intestines. This fruit when used for about two to three months will help in eliminating and cleansing the accumulated fecal matter that was present from long time. This fruit should not be taken after processing. It has to be taken in its natural form and should be taken before dinner to get best results. An adult needs around 60 grams of the fruit.
  • Pear fruit: Pear fruit is useful in the treatment of constipation. Those who are suffering from chronic constipation have to adopt the diet exclusively consisting of pear fruits and juices. This fruit can also be taken after the dinner and along with breakfast to get desired result.
  • Guava: Guava is a fruit when taken along with seeds can create roughness and fiber texture to the bowels which can be excreted easily. It is good to take one or two guavas everyday which helps in movement of bowels very easily.
  • Grapes: These fruits are very helpful in eradicating constipation. The grapes are looked as laxative food with cellulose, organic acids and sugars as their ingredients. Grapes not only help in cleaning the bowels but also tone up the intestines and stomach to bring relief from chronic constipation.
  • The essential results can be obtained by taking this fruit about 350grams in a day. Raisins that are water soaked for 24 hours to 48 hours can be used if grapes are not available. The actual size of the grapes will be attained by soaking them in water. The grapes will give desired results for constipation when eaten early morning along with the water in which they were soaked.
  • Orange: This fruit is also considered as a beneficial fruit for easy bowel movements. Two oranges taken before going to bed and two in the morning can help the person for easy bowel movements. The orange juice is known to stimulate the peristaltic movements       and will not allow the accumulation of food residues in the colon.
  • Papaya and Figs: The papaya which is of medium sized can be taken as half the fruit during the breakfast in the morning to act as laxative. The laxative impact is also shown by figs that are both dry and fresh. The dry figs are suggested to be soaked in water overnight and eaten in the morning to get better results.
  • Spinach: Spinach is considered as one important food among all the fiber rich vegetables recognized from long back. The reconstruction, cleansing and regeneration of intestinal tract are done by the organic substance that is present in the raw spinach. The spinach juice that is prepared for 100ml is added to equal amount of water and eaten two times per day. This will help in curing the constipation in just a few days.
  • The lime that is taken as half a fruit is used for extracting juice from it and add it to warm water. This mixture is added with salt which acts as a remedy for constipation. The water that is kept in copper vessel for overnight can be taken in the morning to give better results.
  • Linseed is very much beneficial in treating the constipation. A teaspoon of linseed that is taken inside along with water before the meals will bring lubrication.
  • Cooking oil is also taken for getting relief from constipation.
  • Drinking water in large quantities will be sufficient for making bowel movements. But severe constipation might not be treated by this method.
  • The stimulation of bowel movements and constant bowel functions can be done by practicing yoga. Yoga can increase digestive system functioning and eradicate the disorders of digestive system like constipation.
  • Pharmaceutical laxatives are sometimes used but are not beneficial when used for long time. The home remedies will work better in the case of constipation.

The diet which has to be followed for getting relief from constipation is

Simple diet with unrefined foods

The diet consisting of unrefined foods like honey, bran, green leafy vegetables, butter, cream, clarified butter, fresh and dry fruits, lentils, and whole grain cereals will provide rich fiber to the food and helps in cleansing the intestines.

Foods consisting of low fiber and high fat diet such as cheese, red meat, and other refined and processed foods have to be avoided while taking high fiber diet.

It is necessary to take fresh fruit juices and water while avoiding unhealthy artificial drinks, alcohol, and caffeinated beverages to keep the body hydrated which will make the bowel movements very easy.

Chewing food and regularity in meals

The food must be chewed properly and the meals taken very rapidly in odd timing has to be avoided. Food items consisting of more sugar have to be avoided. The food that constitute the products that consist of bread, pulses, cakes, fleshy foods, preserves, hard-boiled eggs, white sugar, pastries, white flour, cheese and biscuits will lead to constipation.

Acupressure

There is an opinion given by the acupressure technique in solving the health problems and in treating constipation. According to acupressure, the point of contact in the body which has nerve endings for every organ can be pressed in order to bring relief to any ailment existing in that organ. Likewise, the center points in the palms of the hands are considered as points which can communicate the signals regarding constipation. Hence, triggering that points can bring relief from constipation and the person will start to defecate.

It is suggested to press the center point for a second and release it. Like this the pressing has to be done for about two minutes for three times in a day. It is said that in about three to four days, the person will start to have bowel movements.

But, remember that natural remedies will work as per the body constitution and as per the reception capacity of your body to the method. So, it is important for you to choose which method is effective for you and go about in using it.
